properly, assigning a reason (used in argument, explanation or intensification; often with other particles)

  1. Its primary and original Conclusive force is seen in questions (in Greek writings also in exclamations) and answers expressed with emotion
  2. It adduces the Cause or gives the Reason of a preceding statement or opinion

    2. Often the sentences are connected in such a way that either some particular statement is established by a general proposition (`the particular by the universal'), as in
